Lahewa harbour is the main port of North Nias Regency (Kabupaten Nias Utara). It’s the third most important port on Nias Island, after Gunung Sitoli and Teluk Dalam. The harbour is surrounded by large protected lagoons, which makes Lahewa a popular stop-over and re-supply point for long distance sailors. Since Lahewa was listed in the sailing bible “101 anchorages within the Indonesian archipelago” there has been a steady increase of foreign sailing boats here.
